8th SUPM: Dear runners, thank you for everything!
Subotica has once again proved that it is a city of sport! The largest number of participants since 2019, great energy, smiles and fine weather all made the 8th Subotica Half Marathon more than a success. On Sunday 31 August around 1,500 participants ran through history along the streets of Subotica, and a large crowd cheered on every single runner. That Subotica had once again been a good host could be heard from all sides.
A few days later, once the impressions had settled, we talked to one of the SUPM organisers, Žika Savin, who did not hide his satisfaction that another successfully organised sporting event was behind us. “First of all I have to thank all the participants – this year there were almost more of them than in any previous year, as people from over 20 countries came to run in Subotica, so I simply have nothing to say but THANK YOU. I must also praise the Subotica Half Marathon organising team; I will not name them one by one, because truly everyone gave their maximum in their own duties and tasks, which means we have really grown up and are ready even for a larger number of runners – I just don’t know where we will fit them all… I’m joking; above all I must stress that we are truly satisfied with how the 8th Subotica Half Marathon went.”

Besides the 5 km and 10 km races and the longest one, the 21 km half marathon, which was completed by almost 500 participants, a large number of children took part in the Active Kids Run children’s race, and the organisers thought of the very youngest too, so this year a baby race was held as well. “The race went smoothly, we had no unpleasant incidents in terms of injuries or health problems among the participants, we were lucky that the weather was almost ideal for running, without great heat, so I would say everything really came together and we can be pleased with the race day,” Savin concluded.

As for the race winners, after the official results were published the standings are as follows:
In the 5 km race, in the women’s category, Valentina Kenjereš from Subotica won with a time of 00:20:00, second place went to Tijana Jović from Belgrade with 00:22:10, and third to Nina Stevčić from Subotica with 00:22:33. In the men’s category, the winner is Ádám Szakács from Budapest with 01:18:43, second place went to Milan Petrović from Osečina with 01:19:50, and third to Oleg Tcykalo from Subotica with 01:20:01.
Given the great interest among runners, and the fact that this year all the races sold out before the half marathon took place, the organising team has opened registration for the 9th Subotica Half Marathon, which will be held on Sunday 30 August 2026, and you can register here. Subotica awaits you – see you!
