Works on the City Library building in Subotica completed

The works on the City Library building in Subotica are the result of the efforts of Dr Bálint Pásztor, President of the City Assembly, Member of Parliament and member of the sports association Horizont.

Thanks to this, the City of Subotica received 18 million dinars in a call for proposals of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government for the renovation of the façade of the City Library building. The works were completed today.

“I personally spoke with Minister Marija Obradović to ask her to make the renovation of the building of the oldest library in the country a priority, since one of the Atlas statues above the entrance was badly damaged,” said Dr Bálint Pásztor during a tour of the building.

Besides the restoration of the statues, the renovation of the façade and other important conservation works, the windows and doors were also replaced.

The City Library building is the former National Casino, erected in 1896, and has the status of a cultural monument of great importance.

We will also run past the City Library building in this year’s jubilee 5th edition of the Subotica Half Marathon.

Get ready, it will be a real pleasure!
