Registration for the 2nd Subotica Half Marathon has started
Today registration officially started for the 2nd Subotica Half Marathon, which will be held on 2 September 2018, like last year as part of the City Day celebration.
Around 800 competitors took part in the 1st Subotica Half Marathon in all categories, from the youngest to those who ran the longest distance of 21.1 kilometres. The “Run through History”, as the official name of the event went, gave all participants the chance to get to know the cultural and historical buildings of Subotica from a different perspective. That goal was fulfilled, and the competition itself lived up to expectations, believes the Mayor of Subotica, Bogdan Laban.
To our great satisfaction, the Athletics Federation of Serbia has included the Subotica Half Marathon in the single calendar of athletics competitions in Serbia for 2018. The Subotica Half Marathon, as we promised, is becoming a traditional event that will be held every year as part of the City Day celebration. The local government will therefore continue to support the holding of the competition as co-organiser, the Mayor pointed out at today’s official announcement of this year’s half marathon.
The organiser of the Subotica Half Marathon, the sports association Horizont, expects that last year’s successfully organised event will be the best recommendation and precondition for even more competitors this year. The new website of the event went live today, and in a short time the first competitors have already registered through it, Bálint Pásztor, Member of Parliament and member of the association Horizont, informed those present.
We have opened registration and I am very happy to be able to share with you the information that, without any advertising or announcement, 3 registrations were made through the website by 11 o’clock. I believe that this year the number of participants will be considerably higher than last year; with around 800 participants in the two main races (5 kilometres and the half marathon) we would be more than satisfied, said Pásztor.
Today the sports association Horizont presented plaques to all the individuals and representatives of institutions and organisations that contributed, through their work or donations, to the 1st Subotica Half Marathon being so successful. They are sincere friends of the association, whose support the organiser expects this year too.
