Trophies are more than a prize!

Besides the splendid medals, we have also prepared trophies for our runners, symbolic recognition of their success. When someone achieves the best result, they certainly expect some recognition, yet few of us think about trophies in any other way than that first one.

At almost every sporting competition, including the Subotica Half Marathon, trophies hold a special place, but they are not just recognition of a result; they are a symbol of the whole journey a competitor has travelled, from the decision and the first training session, through challenges and obstacles, to the moment of crossing the finish line. Trophies represent the peak of effort, dedication and discipline, and they are proof that all the effort invested made sense and that the limits we so often set for ourselves are there to be pushed. Every trophy carries a story of early mornings, training in the rain, battling one’s own doubts and, in the end, victory. Sometimes it is a victory over time, sometimes over rivals, and most often over oneself.

At the Subotica Half Marathon, trophies go to the fastest, but the glory is not only for those who climb the podium; every competitor is a winner in their own way. Still, trophies have a special charm, because they remain as a lasting memory not only of race day, but of everything that led up to it. Besides their sporting significance, the trophies at this event also carry emotional value. They connect the past, the present and the future. Many runners, looking at a trophy on the shelf, find the motivation to keep going, to register again, to come back even stronger.

At the Subotica Half Marathon, trophies are awarded in several categories, to the fastest in the 21 km, 10 km and 5 km races, and we have prepared trophies in other categories too. In this way we celebrate the diversity and inclusiveness of the race, because the marathon knows no boundaries: of age, of gender or of geography. At the end of the day, a trophy is much more than metal, wood or crystal. It is the symbol of a moment, the one when an athlete steps onto the podium, looks up and knows it was all worth it. And that moment lasts forever.
